In its first two weeks, 60,000 fans chatted to the bot, generating more than 1m interactions according to developer We Make Awesome Sh.” [is that a word?
- Ed] The report does caution that the bots may not be very intelligent.
He predicted that by the year 2000 "an average interrogator will not have more than a 70 percent chance of making the right identification after five minutes of questioning." In every round of the 2009 Loebner Prize competition each of four judges spent five minutes conversing with one of the chatbot programs and five minutes conversing with a human, thereby testing Turings prediction.
None of the programs in Brighton managed to convince the judges that it was human but Do-Much-More came the closest, edging out two-time winner Rollo Carpenter of the UK whose program finished in second place.
The Loebner Prize is an annual competition in Artificial Intelligence to find the chatbot considered by the judges to be the most human-like.
The format of the competition is based on the Turing test, named after the famous British mathematician and computer pioneer Alan Turing who proposed the test in a 1950 paper entitled Computing Machinery and Intelligence.
There are also onlline AI tools listed here which are similar to bot hosting.
Normally it takes years of toil in the music industry to achieve that. But is the technology getting ahead of what users actually want?Recent research by Dr Chris Brauer, who is director of innovation and senior lecturer at Institute of Management Studies at Goldsmiths University, suggests so.“Most chatbots aren’t really artificial intelligence in the purest sense of the term: they’re more carefully scripted question-and-answer programs capable of serving content.” Sony has created a chatbot for Robbie Williams, called the ‘Robbot’.“Fans can ask Williams’ bot about his music and tour, as well as discovering playlists, visiting his online store and asking other questions, with the bot’s logic due to be updated in response to those interactions.” So far the adoption of “AI” - mostly a rebranding of neutral networks, because the idea well is dry - has been pretty catastrophic when placed in a consumer context, or any kind of practical situation.
